The first step in getting your gum disease or pyorrhea treated is getting your teeth cleaned. This process is called Scaling and Polishing or Nonsurgical treatment. The severity of your gum disease decides the number of appointments that will be required for teeth cleaning. It is a very skillful procedure, though it appears simple because it requires meticulously removing all the tartar and plaque present. The very basis of your treatment outcome for your gum disease depends on how well teeth cleaning has been done.
32 PEARLS® recommend to get your scaling done by a gum specialist or Periodontist only. Usually multiple appointments of teeth cleaning are scheduled at an interval of 4 to 7 days. The next phase of treatment after scaling is done begins after 10 to15 days, as this time is required for healing to take place in your gums. Then Curettes are used to remove and scrap off the infected tissue lining and the patients are placed on specific antibiotics which are used only to treat periodontal or gum diseases.

At 32 PEARLS®, all our Periodontists provide a variety of surgical procedures. The need for surgical treatment is decided after a few weeks of healing time. The surgical treatment is called Flap surgery. Flap surgery is the procedure done after teeth cleaning is completed. Here, we open the gums and remove all the infection from the bone using special instruments called curettes and then sutures are placed. The infected pocket lining is remove and the area is irrigated with medications after cleaning all infection. We also provide the option of Regenerative Periodontics, if it is possible in your case. Here we try and regenerate your lost bone with the best materials available. Flap surgery also involves removing some infected bone if it is present in your case.
This is called Periodontal Osseous Surgery. After sutures are placed the healing occurs over a period of few months. The sutures are removed after one week during follow up visit. Flap surgery is the most basic and important gum treatment which is required to save your teeth. It does not cause loosening of your teeth.
The loosening which sometimes you might feel is normal and reversible. It is due to the healing process that initiates within your gums.
